City of Akron Workforce Development Program - Summer 2026 Enrollment

City of Akron employees can enroll in tuition-free courses at Stark State College for Summer 2026 to enhance their professional skills and career advancement. The program offers a Guaranteed Seat Model for classified employees and an Open Seat Model for classified/unclassified employees and IRS-qualified dependents. Registration begins February 16, 2026, and classes start June 1, 2026. Employees must apply through the City of Akron Human Resources department.

Unify Akron Civic Assembly on Affordable Housing

Sixty-five Akron residents have been chosen to participate in Akron’s first-ever civic assembly to address affordable housing issues. Delegates will work together on solutions to increase housing stock, reduce eviction, and make housing more affordable. The assembly meets on five Saturdays and four Thursdays, from March 14 to May 14, 2026. Participants will engage with experts, review data, and collaborate on actionable recommendations to be presented to the city.
